PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS, ABATEMENTS, AND APPEALS

MSW represents and advises businesses, developers, and governmental entities in all aspects of real property taxation.

Real property taxes increasingly represent a significant expense for property owners and developers. Understanding and addressing your property tax burden is essential for all property owners.

An important part of our broad property tax practice is counseling clients in identifying and mitigating the real property tax implications for new acquisitions and redevelopment projects. Our firm has substantial experience in counseling developers and municipalities on long term and five-year tax exemption payment in lieu of tax (PILOT) programs and related tax incentives.

In addition, our firm’s attorneys have successfully litigated the value of all property classes, including office complexes, retail stores, shopping centers, apartment buildings, industrial facilities, hotels, and unique single purpose properties. Our attorneys also have a particular expertise in counseling non-profit entities in obtaining much needed real property tax exemptions available to charitable, religious, educational, hospital and other entities for qualified property.
